QUAKERTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A man and two children were found dead after an early-morning fire in an eastern Pennsylvania home on Christmas Day that may have been sparked by Christmas tree lights, authorities said. Quakertown police said fire units were called to Essex Court shortly before 1:30 a.m. Saturday and found half of a twin home ablaze. PA Department of Agriculture seeks public help in spotted lanternfly crisis

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the spotted lanternfly is a planthopper that’s native to east Asia. It was first discovered in PA in Berks County in 2014. Since then, it’s wreaked havoc on the local environment as well as the economy. An economic impact study conducted by the state in 2019 estimated that, uncontrolled, the spotted lanternfly could have cost the state $324 million annually and impacted thousands of jobs. Patton Township Police Chief resigns to take position at Penn State

PATTON TOWNSHIP - Patton Township police Chief John Petrick has submitted his resignation to take a job at Penn State University. Patton Township Manager Doug Erickson confirmed that Petrick has taken a job with the Penn State Department of Public Safety and his resignation will go into effect April 25. Erickson said Senior Sgt. Sean Albright will handle the chief's duties on an interim basis. Erickson said that the township will use a recruiting firm to find a full-time replacement. Read More...
