Women arrested after child found locked in small room with no food, water: Police

Two women from Nevada are behind bars on a number of charges after a child was found locked in a small room without necessities to live, police said.

On Monday around 1 p.m., deputies were called to do a welfare check on a child at a residence in Gold Hill. The deputy found a child locked in a small room and said he needed immediate medical attention. Police determined the boy did not have access to a bathroom and didn't have food or water.

Police said based on the investigation and statements from other people living in the house, Tammy and Nancy Hinds were arrested on child abuse/neglect and imprisonment charges.

The Storey County Sheriff's Office said the boy and a sibling were released into the care of the Department of Child and Family Services.

Anyone that may have information regarding this investigation is urged to contact Detective Joe Welch at the Storey County Sheriff's Office by calling 775-847-0959.
