JOHNSTOWN -- The Daisytown Sportsmen's Club, along with the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation, held a competitive shoot today for all ages.
It's the third annual "Fire on the Mountain" event.
Gunfire is a welcome sound to those at the club.
Once a year the club hosts people of all ages to compete, or even learn how to shoot in a fun, friendly and safe manner.
"It's a good time that's had by all,” said Drew Rand, Vice President of the Daisytown Sportsmen's Club. “It's part of the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation, so...they have members throughout the United States."
"We’ve had people here this weekend from North Carolina. We've had people from Maine,” said Ann Young, volunteer range officer. “We've had people from Georgia, Philadelphia, local people. We've had people from Florida."
On Saturday and Sunday, more than 400 shooters participated, with giveaways and drawings for free guns and more.
"Anybody's out there that has a Glock and wants to participate, feel free to come to the club when we have these,” Rand said. “We usually have it first weekend, second weekend in June."
"The sense of comradery at these matches, the sense of help available to new shooters, is just, it's phenomenal," Young said.
"You let any of the range officers know you're a first timer, and every single one of them is so willing and happy to help you through it and work with you every step of the way," Young said.
"Again, you're shooting against yourself and you're shooting against some other shooters, but it's a lot of fun," Rand said.
