CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Calling all Maxxinistas! T.J. Maxx in Richland Township reopened its’ doors Thursday morning.
Hundreds of shoppers were anxiously awaiting to return to their favorite stores like Ross and T.J. Maxx.
“It kind of gives you that sense of normalcy that you can go out and get out of the house after being stuck there for so long. Deals have been good. The lines haven’t’ been too terribly long. They look long but they are moving quickly. I think a lot of people are excited to get back to normal,” said one customer, Lily Bradley.
One precaution T.J. Maxx is taking is limiting the number of customers inside their stores. At Richland’s location, only 193 customers are allowed inside at a time, leaving dozens of people waiting their turn outside the doors.
“I wasn’t expecting this big of crowd, but I think it says a lot the people are anxious to get back to exploring and getting back out there. I think that it’s exciting for people to have something to do and look forward to,” said Bradley.
One T.J. Maxx employee, Hannah Hartnett, who was spending her day off shopping at the store. She said employees are taking several precautions to keep themselves and customers safe.
“Just cleaning a lot. There is always going to be someone who is cleaning the store and making sure things are sanitized. The carts are being wiped down when they are coming inside. I’m a cashier so everything, we have to wear gloves and masks when checking people out. We have a divider and we have been wiping down our stations after every single customer,” said Hartnett.
The precautions and safety measures seem to be working because customers say they aren’t nervous about returning to shopping.
“I don’t have any hesitations. I have a mask on. Everywhere we have been they have been very curious, and everyone is wearing a mask. People have been keeping their distance so no hesitations,” said Bradley.
