6 News Anchor Tim Rigby honored for distinguished career in broadcasting

Our friend and colleague Tim Rigby was honored Saturday night for his outstanding service to broadcasting.

He was officially inducted into the Silver Circle Society by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award recognizes significant contributions made by selected individuals who have been in television news for 25 years or more.

Rigby, a Ferndale native and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, began his career at WJAC-TV in 1981.

After spending more than three decades as sports director, Rigby later returned as a news anchor. He joined Jen Johnson as evening news anchor following Marty Radovonic's retirement in 2018.

His brother, State Rep, Jim Rigby, awarded him a special citation from the state when the honor was announced this summer.
