(TND) — People appear just as willing to sue if they're wronged by an artificial intelligence algorithm as opposed to a human decision-maker, according to a RAND experiment. As more companies, organizations and agencies leverage AI tools for a greater variety of tasks, there’s risk that those algorithms could spit out wrong and harmful verdicts. CT high school hockey player dies after being cut by skate during game

New Canaan, CT — A private school in Connecticut is mourning the loss of a tenth grader who died after being injured in a hockey game. Teddy Balkind died Thursday after colliding with another player in a junior varsity hockey game in Greenwich. Dr. Aaron Beck, father of cognitive therapy, dies at 100

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A groundbreaking psychotherapist known as the father of cognitive therapy has died at age 100. The Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy confirms that Dr. Aaron Beck died peacefully in his sleep at his Philadelphia home on Monday. Cognitive therapy helps patients to identify and dismiss irrational negative thoughts about themselves. Beck developed the treatment in the 1960s at the University of Pennsylvania. It soon revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of depression and other emotional disorders. Read More...
